Redeemed by Christ

Galatians 3:!3, “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”

Christ has redeemed us.  We have been redeemed by Christ by His shed blood on the cross for us.  Christ took our sin and in its place, we have Him in our body, mind and soul.  It is a replacement of our old life that is broken and weak and given a life that is whole and strong.

From the curse of the law.  The curse of the law is sin.  No matter how hard we try, we cannot stop sinning.  We are not perfect.  With Jesus, our sin no longer has the same effect.  Without Jesus, sin will condemn us to Hell.  With Jesus, our sin is made null and we are given eternal life in Heaven.  Jesus is the answer to the curse that fell on us from the time of the Garden of Eden.

Having become a curse for us.  Jesus, when He died, took on our sin.  All of our sin.  He took the punishment for us so that we do not die.  We will still die physically, but without sin, we can live spiritually in Heaven with God.  We will be able to live in a place that does not fall apart or have any sin because God does not allow sin in Heaven.

Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree. In Deuteronomy 21:22-23, it is written that anyone who hangs on a tree is cursed by God.  This quote in Galatians comes from this same portion of the Bible.  The worst type of death in that time (and possibly in this time as well) was crucifixion.  When Jesus took on our sin, God could not be with Jesus until the sin was gone.  That is why Jesus died and took away the power of sin so that He and us can be in Heaven forever.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for sending Your Son to die on the cross.  We are not deserving of Your love and yet, You give it to us freely.  Help us to cast all that we are on You and let Your love permeate all of us.  We love You and need You all the time.

In Your name we pray,

Amen
