Proverbs 29:17, “Correct your son, and he will give you rest; Yes, he will give delight to your soul.”
As parents, we are all too familiar of the role of needing to discipline or correct your children. They make mistakes just like adults, but their mistakes are sometimes very simple mistakes. They need to learn just like we had to learn. This is all for the correction for children.
Correct your son. Sons (and daughters) need correction. When at a young age, children do not always know right from wrong. They do not always know when it is time to be quiet or to sit or to stand. They need to have guidance in order to know what to do and to learn. This is where instruction from parents, guardians and older people is so critical. Children need to learn in order to have children of their own and correct them. It is a constant cycle of instruction and correction. Even adults needs instruction and correction because otherwise we would not have jails and prisons.
He will give you rest. Once you teach your children, they will learn. If you teach them not to touch something enough times, they will learn not to touch it so that you do not have to tell them again. This will give rest as words and actions do not need to be made toward this again, In correction, there has to be memorization and learning. A child must learn to listen and that will make for very happy parents. Parents do not like to repeat themselves but do so because it is necessary.
He will give delight to your soul. Children are such a blessing to their parents. They are created by God. They are a delight to the soul in that parents get to watch their children grow up and become functioning members of society. It is an honor as a father to have three beautiful children such as I have. They are God-fearing and learn more and more every day. They make me happy and make life worth living because we see the workings of God in them.
Thank You for all the children of the world. They are precious to You. We are all Your children. Sons and daughters. Help us to guide the younger generation as You would want us to. Help us to teach and instruct with Your wisdom. You are our God and we are Your people. We ask for Your help and Your love as we correct our children and train them to love You as we love You.
In Your name we pray,
