Supplications A-Plenty

Psalms 28:6, “Blessed be the LordBecause He has heard the voice of my supplications!”

Supplication is defined by Merriam-Webster as “to ask for earnestly and humbly, especially: to pray to God for.  God knows everything and knows what we need before we ask for it.  He knows and yet, He wants to have supplications a-plenty.

Blessed be the Lord.  The Lord is rich beyond measure.  He has riches in Heaven that far exceed what Earth has to offer.  It is even more amazing that the Lord God wants to bless us.  We did not do anything to deserve it.  We are, in fact, unworthy.  When we make the choice to follow God, He blesses us with the crown of life and Heaven eternal.  There is no one like God who can bless us immensely.

Because He has heard.  God hears us.  It may, at times, seem like we are praying to no one.  We are speaking to a God that does not care.  That could not be further from the truth.  God cares for us more than we can ever know.  God hears us just as He listened to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and many other Old Testament people.  He answers prayer in His timing.  He loves us and wants to help us in all things.

The voice of my supplications.  Our requests to God must be voiced.  So many times, we wonder why God doesn’t hear us.  He wants us to “voice” our prayers, not just think them.  God knows our thoughts, but in order to show what we want, we need to talk to God directly about them.  We also should be specific in what we request.  Our supplications should be a plenty as all our needs should be met by God.  We should not be seeking anything from anyone else.  We certainly cannot take care of ourselves without God.  Those who try fail miserably.  Even those that do not believe in God, God takes care of them.  He does this because God does not play favorites.  He loves everyone equally.

Our requests, or supplications, should come in to God daily (sometimes more often).  We should not hesitate to ask God.  He may just surprise us and grant our request.  He does love us, after all.  Let the supplications flow from your mouth every day.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for listening to us.  You did not just create us and let us go.  You check in on us; You pay attention to us.  We need You and should come to You for all that we need.  You love us and we love You.  You are our God.  You choose to bless us if we will only be willing to humble ourselves and ask.  Help us to not be afraid to ask for what our heart desires.  You may say no and that is okay.  It is okay because You have our best interests in mind.  Thank You, most of all, for salvation so that we may be with You after this life.

In Your name we pray,

Amen
