Cursed are Those that Preach Another Gospel

Galatians 1:8-9, “ But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.  As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.”

There are so many out there trying to say that they have the truth.  People claiming that they hear from God.  People claiming that they know all the answers to life’s mysteries.  People who think that they can predict the future.  Unless this information comes from the Bible, it is false.  Those that preach another gospel are cursed and lead others away from God.

No one is excluded from the truth.  It does not matter who we are, whether we are an accountant, doctor, lawyer, pastor, or priest.  All must adhere to the truth when it comes to God.  That means that if someone wants to talk about the Bible, they need to do their homework.  Also, if you hear someone preaching or quoting the Bible, it is to be check out to make sure that it is true.  We should not just run around and believe everything that we hear.  We need to make sure to know what is said in the Bible.

Angels from Heaven are of God.  Even they, if they are saying things contrary to God, cannot be trusted.  Look at Lucifer.  He was an angel of God.  He then thought that he was better than God and as a result, got himself kicked out of Heaven.  He and a large group of other angels that were loyal to him.  So even angels from God need to be held to the truth of God and if they do not pass the test, we are to treat them as cursed.

There is the truth of the Bible and then there is not truth, which is a lie.  There are so many other versions of the Bible but some cross a line where they add to or take away parts of the Bible.  There are versions of the Bible that twist words that were written.  We need to show care when selecting what Bible to read.  Some versions are simply ones to avoid.

When we, as Christ followers, talk to others about God, we need to be careful what we say.  We need to make sure to always speak the truth.  God is truth and is fair, even if we do not think so.  We cannot sugar coat the Bible for people.  We cannot shape the Bible to the way we want to.  Sometimes the Bible comes off harsh but that is because of the love of God.  God knows what we need to hear.  It may not seem like it but God has all of our best intentions in mind at all times.

So, anything that contradicts the Bible is false.  Doesn’t matter who says it.  Doesn’t matter why it was said.  That is false and the Bible says it and that person are cursed.  There is hope though.  If you happen to say something falsely, own it.  We are all human.  We all sin.  We must, if we sin, ask for forgiveness and God will forgive.  He loves us and does not want us to say things that He did not say.  He wants the truth and we should want to deal with only the truth.  Truth frees us from the curse of another gospel.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the truth.  Thank You that we can count on You to tell us the truth, whether we want to hear it or not.  We have a message in the Bible that is there to help and guide us.  We do not have to make up anything or second guess You.  You are love and truth and we owe everything to You.  Help us to always trust You to have our lives in Your hands because You say so.  You are such an awesome God!

In Your name we pray,
