Lamentations 3:22-23, “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”
As we approach the new year, 2018, I am reminded that every day is a new day in God. At the close of the day, we lay our heads on pillows, bodies on beds, and decompress all of the day’s events. The morning is when we awake, refreshed and ready to start fresh. Each day is a blessing and with the coming year, this too is a blessing. Every morning is anew in You, Lord.
Our Lord is a merciful God. He does not make us struggle alone. He does not leave us to fend for ourselves. We are not worthy of mercy because of our sinful past. We are not worthy to be saved by God. Yet, God does not leave us in a sinful state if we choose Him. We can face the future, knowing that God has saved us from the judgment that we deserve. It is like the morning, letting us start over as if we had never sinned.
Through judgment, we face Hell if we do not repent from our sins. We would be consumed by the fire that is there. Because of the mercy of God, we do not have to face this. We can go to Heaven, where there is no pain and suffering. Go where there is a mansion waiting for us. We should follow God and enjoy the mercies that are given. They were not given freely; they are provided at a cost. The cost was the life of Jesus.
Jesus is full of compassion, shown by His life and death. In death, Jesus took our sin and showed the world just how compassionate He is. There is no end to the amount of compassion that Jesus has. Even after we are saved, we will sin. Jesus’s death covers all the future sins that we will sin as well as the ones that we had done prior to accepting Him as Lord and Savior. His love is without limit.
Every day that we get is a gift from God. We are not guaranteed anything in this life as to how many days we will live. What we can be guaranteed if that after this life, we will have eternal life with God in Heaven. We should enjoy every moment that we get because it could be our last. With that in mind, we should not live scared, but free. Live every day to the fullest.
God is faithful. He has never lied and He is not about to start now. God cannot sin and since lying is a sin, God cannot do that. God is also great. He has done so much for us. Since God is great, we should be more reliant on Him for all that we need. God is larger than our problems. God is larger than our fears. God is larger than anything. We can rest assured that God will be there for us, no matter what. Each day we awake, we have God fighting for us if we only let Him in.
Thank You for Your love and faithfulness to us. We do not deserve all that You give us. We ask that You continue to shower Your mercies down on us daily. We owe everything to You. You are an awesome God, bigger than our problems or our fears. Let us give everything to You so that we may be free and live life as You intend it. May we use our lives to Your honor and Your glory.
In Your name we pray,
