Far or Near, God will Hear

Proverbs 15:29, “The Lord is far from the wicked, But He hears the prayer of the righteous.”

When praying, it does not seem like God always listens.  Sometimes it feels like we pray and then nothing happens.  I am here to say that “nothing happens” is not reality.  Far or near, God will hear the prayers of every single person that calls on His name.

The Lord is far from the wicked.  Two things that do not go together are God and evil (wicked).  They blend like water and oil.  There are two ways to look at this.  The Lord is far from the wicked in the fact that He will not be there when the wicked need Him after they die.  They will call on Him and it will be too late.  Once we die, there is no “do-over.”  The life lived here and the salvation attained here equates to where we go when we die.  There is Heaven with God or Hell with Satan.  No intermediary place.  The other way to look at this is God is far because God cannot be near sin.  When Jesus took on the sin of the world, God even left Jesus until the sin was gone.

He hears the prayer of the righteous.  The righteous are those that have called on God and accepted the gift of salvation that was paid for by the blood of Jesus Christ.  God listens to all prayer including those from His chosen people.  Through faith, God blesses the righteous with what is needed and sometimes what is wanted.  That is not to say that wicked people do not get things in this world.  The difference is that the wicked live for this world and get what they can in this world.  When they die, they have nothing.  Came into the world with nothing.  Leave the world with nothing.  The righteous have the best to come in the form of Heaven.  The righteous know that there is so much more beyond this world.

Prayer is so important.  If you aren’t as much as much as you need to, change that.  In my opinion, we can never pray enough.  We need to involve God in all aspects of life.  If this is something that you struggle with, address it with God.  He is there to help.

Heavenly Father,

We know that You are the God of the righteous and the wicked.  You love everyone, regardless of what we have done.  Help us to trust You more.  You have taught us how important prayer is.  We will obey You and call out to You for the help we need daily.  You are our God and we would be nothing without You.

In Your name we pray,

Amen
