Romans 15:7, “Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God.”
This world that we live in is so cruel in its intentions. Many are lost, trying to make as much money as they can. Many are lost, trying to become as popular as they can. Trying to be the biggest and best that they can. There is little love for our fellow-man. Little love for sticking up for each other. This is so true, even in the Church. Especially in the Church, we need to receive each other in love.
Therefore receive one another. Receive come from the Greek word προσλαμβάνω proslambánō, pros-lam-ban’-o which means to take to oneself, i.e. use (food), lead (aside), admit (to friendship or hospitality):—take (unto). We need to be willing to put our own agendas on hold every once in a while and focus on others. Helping out where and when we can. When someone has a need, it is in our best interest, if able, to help them. Along with this help, bring the message of God. Help someone both physically and spiritually.
Just as Christ. Jesus, through infinite love, was always helping others. Healing people, teaching people, feeding people, and so much more. Jesus, though all God, lowered Himself to the point of washing feet. This was a job for a servant of the house. Jesus loves us so much and wants to do all He can for us. He even died for us so that we can live in Heaven without sin. He died so that we may live. Free from bondage and one day, free from pain and suffering.
Also received us. Jesus receives us, sin and all. Weakness and all. Wretchedness and all. We need to be more like Christ and receive all we can to help. It does not matter their background. It does not matter what they have done. We have done wrong. We have all strayed from the path of righteousness. Since the fall of man, we have all done wrong. Jesus wants us, no matter what. We should care about people like Jesus does.
To the glory of God. Doing good things for people makes God happy. God wants us to help out each other, not put up walls to keep others out. We should be open to share with all that God has blessed us with. If more people would open up their wallets and their hearts, the world would be a better place. So many people can be resolved through helping and giving. Let us give and help more of our own volition.
Thank You for all that You do for us and bless us with. Without You, we would be lost, starving and homeless. You provide all we need. You make us who we are. I ask that those that do not know You, come to know You. Send out those that Christ followers to guide those that are not to Your saving grace. It is in our power to bring them to You; it is in Your love and mercy that we are given salvation and eternal life.
In Your name we pray,
