Man, The Image of God

Genesis 1:27, “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”

Man and Woman.  The greatest creation of God.  Given brains to think, muscles to help us move, and bones to hold us erect.  We are man, the image of God.

So God created man.  It is no coincidence that the last thing that God created is man.  He waited until last to create His most treasured creation.  We know that we are His most treasured because we are given something that nothing else is offered: eternal life with God.

In His own image.  We are created in His image.  When I think about the image of God, I get lost in my thoughts.  To see God will be the greatest pleasure of this life and the life to come.  When I look around at all the people of the world, they are all created in the image of God.  Everyone that has ever lived, is living, and will live are all in the image of God.  It is so amazing and mind-blowing to think that we are His.

In the image of God.  What does God look like?  We do not know but we can see a glimpse of God in the image of His creation.  Image comes from the Hebrew word צֶלֶם tselem, tseh’-lem; from an unused root meaning to shade; a phantom, i.e. (figuratively) illusion, resemblance; hence, a representative figure, especially an idol:—image, vain shew.  We all resemble God.  How awesome is it that we were created by God to look like Him.

He created him.  God created man from dirt.  How ironic that when our physical body dies, we are placed back in the ground, returning to the dirt from which we were made.  Woman was created from the rib of man, thus being ever connected to man.  Man and woman were created to be together and get along together.  That is why the bond is so strong between man and woman as well.

Male and Female.  God created two different genders.  This was for the procreation of more children to further life on Earth.  Everything that God created has a male and female gender.  This is not on accident.  To have more animals, there has to be more animals born.  This is how the cycle works.  Life and then death and then life again.  That next life can be Heaven, spending time with God.

He created them.  He made us for a purpose.  Our purpose is to praise and worship Him.  God does not need us.  He has the power to wipe everyone off the Earth.  Yet, He withholds His wrath against those that mock Him, deny Him, and curse Him.  How sad it is that God’s creation would treat their Heavenly Father the way that they do.  God is not to be trifled with.  You may not have problem today, tomorrow, or the next day, but Hell is reserved for those that do not praise and worship the One True God, creator of all the universe and beyond.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You that You made us.  Thank You for making us in Your image.  We love You and need You always.  Help us to praise and worship more.  Help us to eliminate all that tries to take our attention away from You.  We come before You with open arms, needing all that You are.  We humble ourselves before You, for You are awesome, more powerful than anything.  Thank You for giving us a purpose and always being there for us.

In Your name we pray,
