Proverbs 17:17, “A friend loves at all times, And a brother is born for adversity.”
A friend is something that should be valued. Someone to keep through the good times and the bad times. A friend is so important on so many levels. It is best to keep a friend to the end and the same goes for a brother. A brother, like a friend, should be someone who fights for you and with you against all else.
A friend loves at all times. I have had many friends over the years. So have come, some have gone and some have gone and come back. One individual has been my friend since I was 6. He has had my back and I have had his for all this time. That is how a friend should be. There for you no matter. When you call, they answer. When they need something, you help them. That is showing the love of God. God loves everyone even if they do not love Him. That is how we should be with everyone we know, especially people we are friends with.
A brother is born for adversity. When dealing with adversity, it is good to have a brother next to you. A brother is there for you just like a friend. When I served in the Army, I had lots of brothers. This was a change from growing up without any siblings. They had my back just like I had theirs. If we went into battle, they were there to help me and I was there to help them. One team.
This is how it is in the spiritual realm. We need friends and brothers to help fight against the forces of evil that want to tear us away from God. We need to stand up and guard our hearts and the hearts of our brothers and friends. We need to be there for everyone. Be a friend. Be a brother. It is for yourself but also for the kingdom of God.
Thank You for friends and brothers. We need people to help us in our battles and You supply those people. Bless us and keep us safe from the attacks of the devil. We ask for a protection around us as we share the gospel with others. We know that life is not always going to be easy but we ask that You fight our battles as only You can. You are our strong and mighty God, creator of all and conqueror of many nations. May we serve You with all that we are.
In Your name we pray,
