Romans 3:10-18, “As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.” “Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit”; “The poison of asps is under their lips”; “Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.” “Their feet are swift to shed blood; Destruction and misery are in their ways; And the way of peace they have not known.” “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
Verse 17: “And the way of peace they have not known.”
The way of peace. Peace comes from the Greek word εἰρήνη eirḗnē, i-ray’-nay; probably from a primary verb εἴρω eírō (to join); peace (literally or figuratively); by implication, prosperity:—one, peace, quietness, rest, +set at one again. The way of peace comes from God, not the world. The world does not know peace. Even without war, there is still no peace. Peace is rest. Full rest apart from sin. Because the world is fallen and full of sin, peace is something sought out but not found. It is not found until one seeks God. God is true peace.
Not known. When something is not known, it is not understood. Our finite minds cannot comprehend true peace. A knowledge of life without sin. God knows this life. God cannot know sin because He cannot sin. God knows of sin though as His creation, us, sin. He makes a way to take our sin and send it away. Sin’s strength is taken away by the blood of Jesus. Sin’s power is gone due to Jesus taking it to the grave.
Jesus is the Prince of Peace. The comfort to us in a weary, hurting world. Jesus is our Savior. Without Jesus, we would be lost. Without Jesus, there is no salvation. There is chance for Heaven for us. We need Jesus oh so much. He is our lifeline. Our strength. Our healer. Our friend. Our friend to the very end and beyond to Heaven above.
Thank You that You are our peace. We can know You because You are not some God that sits on a far away mountain. You are real and You are close. You are a prayer away. Help us to trust You and help us to call on You. You are never too busy for us. You are always there, ready to help us. Not because You need us but because we need You. Every minute, every second, every fleeting moment is when we need You. Help us to know You more. You truly are an awesome God.
In Your name we pray,
