Proverbs 21:13, “Whoever shuts his ears to the cry of the poor Will also cry himself and not be heard.”
The state of the world is dire. Hunger, homelessness, pain, struggling, diseases. This world is filled with sadness on many scales. There is hope though. That hope comes from God the Father, creator of the universe. God then wants us to use that hope to answer the cries of the world.
Whoever shuts his ears. People that shut their eyes and ears off to the world lose touch with the would and what is going on. As Christians, we need to know that we are not of this world but that does not mean that we cannot show the love of God to this world. When shutting your ears, you ignore the cries of the hurting people of the world. We are all God’s creation. We all need to work together to help each other. Open your ears that you may hear and help out this world that is broken.
To the cry of the poor. The poor cry out. They need the basic of things and yet cannot get them. To those that have much, there needs to be help given to those with little. God wants us to show that we can give of what we have because what we have is not truly ours anyways. What we have is God’s. Everything is God’s and is our only because God wills it to be. Walk in any major city and you will see impoverished people. People that are truly hurting and need help.
Will also cry himself. Riches come and riches go. So many stories of people who have tons of money and then find themselves without any. Money has a tendency to cause more problems than it is worth. Money is a necessary evil, used to pay for things like food, shelter, and other wants and needs. When someone goes from much to little, there will be sadness. People who are used to having much do not fare well without the creature comforts they enjoy. This causes them pain and suffering.
And not be heard. If, when you have and do not share, and then become in need, there will be no one to hear you. God has the power to give and the power to take away. Everything you have can be gone in an instance. This is why it so important to care more about your soul than your money. Money will come and money will go but your soul can be eternally saved or eternally destroyed. We must make the choice. Love of money or love of God? To be saved and live in Heaven or sent to Hell, far away from the Creator of the world.
Thank You for all the blessings that You shower on us daily. We take for granted so much that You give us. We would never be able to survive without You and yet You continue to give us more and more. We ask that You be with us now and for forever. You are truly our God. We truly want to be Your people.
In Your name we pray,
