Proverbs 21:2, “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the hearts.”
What we do seems right at the time. We can do everything we want and it seem right but is it? Is it right in God’s eyes? Is it what God wants from us? There are so many ways to live but only one way is the way to live for God. Desert the ways of man; go the way of God.
Every man. This does not exclude anyone. Every one of us tries to live life right. Eat the right things. Wear the right clothes. Be nice to others. Show kindness. This may be right to us but is it to God? God has a plan for all of us. God wants us to live a certain way. The way that He has set out. What is that way? It is what God tells us through the Word and through prayer.
Right. What is right? What is right for one may not be right for another. Not everyone is called to be a doctor. It is not the plan. It is not the correct fit. God has a plan and each plan is contoured to the individual. Because God created each person unique, He created each person’s life unique, too.
The Lord weighs the heart. God does not care what we think is right. God cares what is right to Him. Since God is perfect, He knows everything that is right and everything that is wrong. Also, since God created everything, He is in charge. It is His rules that we have to follow. It is His guidance that we should accept.
At the end of life, God will examine our lives. We will be held against the perfect standard of God. None of us will line up with God perfectly. We all sin. We all do wrong. Each sin is recorded. We must be prepared to answer for this. There is hope, though. Jesus came and died for our sins. He died so that we do not have to pay for our sins that we commit. This is not so that we can sin as much as we want but that we can be saved from what we have done and will do.
What is your heart saying to God? Is is a good life or a bad life? Regardless, come to God and your life can be started over. Not physically, but spiritually. Jesus can wipe your heart clean of sin and you can be with God in Heaven forever. Deny your ways and follow God’s ways. They are true, straight and will never fail.
Thank You that Your ways are perfect. We have plans and they fail. What we seem to do seems right at the time but is not. Help us to follow You. Help us to listen to Your voice. We know that we are not perfect but because of Your Son, we can be. Our hearts and lives are cleaned and made new. We love You so much and owe everything to You.
In Your name we pray,
