Matthew 18:20, “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
A get together. A gathering. A group. A crowd. All names for individuals who come together in one place. For this, it could be a concert, meeting, party, sporting event, or even church. When gathering in a group and the name of Jesus is the reason, Jesus is right there. In the middle. In the mix. Together with the group.
Even if we are not gathered in a church, if Jesus is brought up or the purpose of the meeting, Jesus is there. “A church” is a building. “The church” is the people. People meeting together in the name of Jesus automatically invites Jesus in the conversation. This is based on people, not a location. The location is irrelevant. People think that we have to only mention God in a church. That is not so.
Prayer groups are an example of two or more gathered together in the name of Jesus. The people do not even have to be in the same room for Jesus to be in the midst. With technology now, we have video chat, three-way calling, and other means of communication. This is still people getting together. This is still a meeting place for the name of Jesus to be praised and worshipped.
We do not need to be in a specific place to praise and worship God. It is not just a Sunday thing. It is a “ends in y” thing. Every day that God gives us should be a day of praise and worship of Christ. Not because we are forced. It is because of Jesus that we have life. We have salvation. We have everything and yet we are nothing without Jesus. With Jesus alone, we have the everything we have.
Jesus deserves all our time. Now I know that we have jobs, families, friends, and other commitments. This does mean that Jesus gets 1 hour on Sunday. We should be trying to gather with a group to worship Jesus whenever we can. Maybe it is a group chat, or a video message, or a group on social media. Find a way to bring Jesus into everything you do. It may be awkward at first but it gets easier. Trust me, there are so many opportunities to invite Jesus into your conversations.
Make use of time with others. Speak about Jesus. Nothing else matters like Him. If you serve Him, why not talk about Him? If you love Him, profess Him. Share Him. Share the gift you accepted. It will change lives. Believe me. It is the best gift that can be given. Gather together and talk about Christ today and every day. It will be enriching for you and for others.
Thank You that we don’t have to be somewhere specific for You to be there. You are everywhere. We can love You and praise You and worship You where we are. You are not my God on just Sunday; You are my God every day. I pray that I and others will take this as a challenge to gather together and share You more. I feel that we do such a great disservice by not sharing You to others. Everyone should know You like I do. Please help me and others like me to share You and spread Your Word.
It is in Your name that we may boldly profess Your name,
