Proverbs 27:19, “As in water face reflects face, So a man’s heart reveals the man.”
Reflections. They have a way of showing what something looks like, good or bad. What or who a man is can be seen in what is shown. The reflection that we should have is reflecting how Jesus lived on the Earth. He is the perfect example to reflect.
Water, like a mirror, produces a reflection. When looking in a mirror, we can see our face, body or anything else in the mirror. This is the same with water. Depending on how still the water is depends on how clear the reflection is. Your reflection shows what you look like. This is also how others will see you. When someone is watching you, they are seeing what you are reflecting back to them.
To be a good reflection, we must be reflecting the right image. When it is own our reflection, that is a sinful nature that is seen. When we reflect Jesus, the image is quite a bit different. Jesus is the perfect reflection and image for anyone to emulate.
A man’s heart can be filled with good or bad. This will be reflected in how a man acts. This will also show in how a man speaks. Words and actions show a lot about who a person is. The words and actions of Jesus, for example, show that He was intelligent, righteous and loving. Now we can never be exactly like Jesus, but we can try really hard to be like Him. He is the prime example to base our lives off of.
We need to be mindful of our reflection to others. When we are a Christian, it means that we belong to Christ. When people know this, they will look at how we act. They will look at what we say. This could negatively affect how someone perceives Jesus. This could turn them away from God instead of toward Him. This should be a caution to those who are Christ’s followers.
Thank You for the perfect example in You. We do not have to be blind when it comes to how to live. We have You to guide us and comfort us. We have You always. We thank You for all that You do for us daily. Help us to be more like You every day that we live.
In Your name we pray,
