Romans 5:6-8, “For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.  For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.  But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

The life of one for another.  A rarity in any day and age.  A lot of people are talk when it comes to this subject but few are truly willing to do so.  Jesus was the truest example of one who gave His life for others.  He gave His life for more than 1; He gave His life for all.

We do not have the strength to save ourselves.  We cannot save ourselves from a physical death and we cannot save ourselves from a spiritual death either.  We are not strong enough.  After the fall of man, we lost the perfection that God gave.  With free will, we gave up a life with God for a life on our own.  We had no chance to go back to God.  Except God had a plan for us.

In God’s time, Jesus came to die for all.  No one made Jesus come.  He came on His own.  He came to Earth as a baby, lived a life and then gave up His life freely for the ungodly.  The ungodly includes everyone that lived, lives, and will live.  We are all ungodly until we come back to God and ask for forgiveness from our sinful nature.

Jesus died for the World.  This is a huge ask of anyone unless that someone is God.  If most people were asked to die for a righteous man, they would refuse.  Life is considered precious to most.  People do everything they can to preserve life.  Life expectancy has been greatly improved with technology and medicine and this is in large part to people wanting to live longer, better lives.  To die for another is just a concept that is strange.  This is not to say that there are not people who go out and sacrifice their lives.  There are, but to the degree that Jesus went.

In addition to death for all, Jesus took away the power of sin and death and Hell.  God made sure that even though we made a mistake, we had a way out.  A way out of the pain and suffering that we deserve.  That is love.  That is God’s love.  He loves us so much even though we have wronged Him, He still allowed His Son to die to save humankind.

We are all sinners.  We all need God.  Your life, Jesus, was given to save ours.  For this we are forever in debt and forever thankful.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for all that You are and all that You do.  We are nothing without You and owe it all to You.  Let us never forget the sacrifice that Your son did for us.  We need You all the time and we are not strong.  We cannot resist sin on our own.  I pray that we all resist sin and come to You.  I pray for all those that do not yet know You.  I pray that they come to know You and accept Your gift of salvation.

In Your name we pray,

Amen
