The Eyes and Ears of the Lord: Open Always

Psalms 34:15-16, “The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry.  The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.”

The eyes and ears of the Lord.  They are ever open and ever vigilant.  Nothing escapes the vision of the Lord and nothing goes unheard either.  God never sleeps so He is always open to see and hear what is going on.  He is in tune with each and every person.

The eyes.  Eyes are important for vision.  When people see things, they are more apt to believe.  For those that are blind, it is more difficult to “see” an object.  God sees all.  He is not blind to our actions that we have on this Earth.  God sees the good we do and also the bad.  In the passage, God’s eyes are on the righteous.  Those who are God’s chosen people.  I am here to say that God’s eyes are on the righteous and the unrighteous.  God wants His people to follow Him.  He wants us to have eyes like His.

The ears.  Ears are the gateway to hearing.  Not listening but hearing.  Listening is merely letting noise come in and doing nothing with it.  Hearing is much different.  Hearing involves listening and then acting on what is listened to.  God is a hearer.  He hears our cries for help.  He hears our prayers.  He hears even our thoughts.  God is very interactive when it comes to His creation.  God is not an absent God.  He is there.

The face.  The face contains the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears.  Four out the 5 total senses originate in and around the face.  God’s face is against those who are evil.  He is watching and seeing the evil that this world is capable of.  The wars, the hate speech, the law breaking, the all in all evil.  God is against this.  God would rather we choose to avoid sin.  Sin causes separation from Him.  God and sin do not mix.

God is so serious about sin that if one does not repent of said sin, He will cut them off.  They will not have a place in Heaven with Him.  Seems cruel until You realize that God gives us an out.  The “out” is that Jesus came, died, and rose again to eliminate sin for all.  All those that believe in Jesus and confess their sins will be saved.  If you avoid this choice, you are left with the only other option.  This option involves eternal separation from God.  This option is bleak to say the least.

God cares about His people.  He provides a Way for those to come to Him.  We can choose to accept Jesus and follow Jesus to the Father.  We can also choose to deny Jesus and walk away from the best gift ever given.  The choice is ours.  God has a side He wants us to choose but if we refuse, He has no choice but to send you away from Him.  How sad it is when someone has the choice to be with God and refuses to take the choice.  Let us all be wise and seek God first.  Seek His face and His kingdom in Heaven today.

Heavenly Father,

Let us choose You every time.  You want us to listen and look to You.  You, in turn, look and listen to us.  Help us to lean on You in all that we do.  We cannot function without You.  You give us our breath, our very existence.  You created us in Your image.  Let us be a reflection of You, not only in our speech but also in our actions.  We are nothing without You.  Forgive us of our sins that we have committed against You.  We are not worthy of the love that You show us.  We humbly thank You for sending Your Son to die for us.  Let us accept You and Him and enter into Your kingdom forever.

In Your name we pray,

Amen
