2 Timothy 2:1, “You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.”

Grace, from the Greek χάρις cháris, khar’-ece; graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstract or concrete; literal, figurative or spiritual; especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude):—acceptable, benefit, favor, gift, grace(- ious), joy, liberality, pleasure, thanks, worthy.  Jesus’s grace truly is a gift.  One that is strong and cannot be repaid.

God gave us the gift of grace when He sent His son to the world.  As a world, we are sinful.  We are not worthy of anything good due to all the bad we do.  What is deserved is death.  Not just in the physical sense but in the spiritual sense as well.  Enter Jesus.  Jesus came to Earth to show us the way to live.  He also came to die.  Why did He die?  To eliminate the sin the world is responsible for.  That is the gift.

We must be strong.  Not of ourselves but in Jesus.  Jesus is our strength and is our strength against sin.  We cannot save ourselves.  We cannot go without sinning,  When we live, we live contrary to God.  The contrary-ness to God is what separates us from God.  Jesus and His strength must come between God and us to make the way for us to be with God once more.  This is grace.  A gift that is not deserved.

Why did Jesus do this?  Because He loves us.  He loves us so much.  He does not want anyone to be separated from God.  It is sad but not all come to know Jesus and accept His gift.  Many die without the acceptance to see God.  That is why we must be strong in Jesus.  That is why Timothy warns us to be strong in the grace of Jesus.

This is also a good lesson to those of us who are saved.  We must interact with those who are not.  We must help all those that need Jesus (Everyone needs Jesus).  We must show a life that is for God.  This will help to show the love of God and the gift of Jesus.  This is how we can make others strong in the grace of Jesus.  Give the gift that was given to you.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the gift of salvation.  You did not have to give us this gift.  You could have kept Your Son from us.  Thankfully, You did not.  You gave us a gift; Let us get this gift to others.  We should share Your love to others.  We should not hold that gift in.  It is not ours to hold in but to share.  We love You, Lord, for Your many wonders and amazing grace.

In Your name we pray,

Amen
