James 1:12, “Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.”
Temptation is all around. Temptation to cheat. Temptation to steal. Temptation to do evil even when good is known. How we handle temptation is the measure of the man. Temptation for a time and then there is the crown for those that endure the temptation and stay looking toward God.
There is so much evil in this world. So much around for the mind and body to get into to. So much trouble. Thankfully, there is God. God can get us through all the trouble. God will get us through it, if we ask. God is there.
Jesus even endured temptation from the devil himself. Every time he resisted, He quoted the Bible. This is not on accident. This is an example. Every time we get into temptation, we should turn to the Bible. The Bible is filled with “for instances” to choose from for a myriad of temptations that we can go through. God was really looking out for us when He sent His Son to show us the way.
A man who endures temptation is considered blessed by God. Seems backward but it is not. As a Christian, if we not being attacked by evil, we should question why. If there are not temptations attacking, what is going on? Jesus was the holiest man to walk the Earth. He was constantly attacked, tempted, badgered, and bullied. This was because Jesus was doing the will of the Father. When we do the will of the Father, we will have the same attacks happen.
We should be welcoming bad things to attack. Not because we have a death wish or we want to be around evil. We should see evil and resist it. Resist it like Jesus resisted it. We should want it so that we can receive the crown. The crown of life. It is given to those that are strong in the face of darkness. Not strong on their own, but strong because of God. Strength from weakness.
Love God. Love Him enough to follow Him. Love Him so that You will receive the prize at the end. Heaven awaits for those that endure everything that the world offers. Resist the things of the world. Resist and keep your eyes on God. God will bring you home. Home to your true home, Heaven.
Help us to resist temptation that we face. We are not strong but we know that You are. All we have to do is ask and You answer. We can look to You and we look to the Word. We need You, Father. We need You daily. We are ready to receive the crown of life at the end of our lives. Help us to make it to the end. Bring us to You so that we resist the world and what it offers.
In Your name we pray,
