Galatians 1:8-9, “But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.  As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.”

Words.  They can mean so much depending on who sees them or who writes them.  They can be fact or fiction.  A truth or a lie.  The Bible is one book that is all truth.  Written by men but inspired by God.  Written by men, but authored by God so that each word is in there the way that God requires it to be.  Even through all the translations of the Bible, it is still as accurate as it was in the times it was written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.  Any other words added make the Bible false.

The Gospels, or good news, refers to the first four books of the New Testament but this passage can and should refer to the Bible in its entirety.  The books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are similar in that they recall the life of Jesus.  They show different aspects of His life.  With all of this information, the early apostles and disciples preached this to all the known world.  They told the stories of Jesus’ wondrous works.  This is what was spread all over.

There were also people who were false prophets.  They would take parts of the gospels and twist them to the way that they wanted them to be.  This was a way to try to subvert the ministry of Jesus.  This was a way to mislead people from following the true words of Jesus.  This was what was warned against in this passage.

Today, there are those that preach the Bible and do not twist the facts.  There are also those that do twist the facts to how they want the Bible to be for them.  They do so in order to make themselves feel better or to make the Bible work for them.  The Bible is what it is.  It is truth and should be read as truth and at face value.  False teachers are still as evident today as they were in the time of Jesus.

It does not matter how holy or persuasive someone is, even if they are an angel, if something is said that is contrary to the Bible, it is to be seen as false.  It is not from God.  The Bible is from God.  Cursed is the man who preaches and teaches contrary to what God says.  This is what needs to be watched carefully.  Anything that is spoken or written needs to be examined with a fine tooth comb.  That is to include this blog or any other form of speech or communique.

Watch out for what is false.  Stick to what is true.  Read the Bible.  Know it so that if someone tries to tell you something that varies from it, do not believe it, even for a second.  It is not truth and should not be given the time of day.  Even if a pastor says it, look it up.  Do the research.  Make sure that what you hear is from the Bible.  Nothing should be added to or taken away from the Bible, no matter how bad it makes you feel or convicted it makes you.  It is false.  The Bible is truth.  Seek the Bible and seek what God says.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for truth.  We know that there is truth and there are lies.  Help us to see the difference between the two.  It is so hard sometimes to see what is from You and what varies from You.  You are truth.  Help us to seek the Bible to know what You say and to make sure that what we hear is truth.  We love You and need You and thank You for the words in the Bible, regardless of how they make us feel.  The Bible was not meant to please men.  The Bible was written to save men from the sin of the world.  Thank You.

In Your name we pray,

Amen
