Proverbs 11:27, “He who earnestly seeks good finds favor, But trouble will come to him who seeks evil.”

Continuing to talk on good and evil from yesterday, this passage again speaks out about good and evil.  Each person will get something based on what is done.  There is something for each depending on the life lived.

Seek good to find favor.  If someone is truly seeking good, they will find God.  God is good so if good is searched for, God will be found.  This is considered favor.  In the eyes of the world, it is absurd to chase after and seek God.  Why spend time serving a God that cannot be seen and read a book that was written a long time ago?  Why have faith in God when you can live how you want on this Earth.  The reason to seek good and seek God is because this world is not all there is.  If the world was all that was there, then there would be no point to serving God.  Everyone would end up apart from God anyways so you might as well be as evil as possible and live how you want.  The fact is, though, there is a God and serving Him does matter.

A life spent following God is rewarded with far more than the world.  There are riches that are beyond our dreams in Heaven waiting for us.  Not material goods like we have on Earth.  Heavenly treasure.  Part of this treasure is our salvation from all the wrong that we did on Earth.  That is why we seek good.  That is why we seek God.

Seek evil to find trouble.  If someone is seeking evil, they will find it.  Evil is never too far away.  It lurks in the shadows and attacks without warning.  Just as God is absolute good, Satan is absolute evil.  He wants nothing more than to take people off the path of good and toward the path of evil.  Without God, we are doomed to a life with Satan.  It may seem pleasing at first but in the end, it will end in pain and suffering.

Good and not evil.  Time and time again, there are stories of good going against evil.  God against Satan, Jesus against Satan, the angels of Heaven against the demons of Hell, Israel against the nations that opposed Israel.  Good prevails because God is bigger and more powerful than all.  God wins every time.  So, pick a winner.  Pick God.  You will not be sorry.  God is the answer to every question of life.  Add God to your life and see what happens.  You will be pleasantly surprised.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being good.  Thank You for standing up against evil.  When the world tries to get us down and attack, You are there for us.  We would be lost without You.  You are all that we need to fight our battles every day.  You are bigger than all our problems, all our concerns, all that we face.  Thank You always for sending Your Son to die on the cross.  Without Jesus, there is not a chance for us to be with You.  We are so grateful.  Keep us from evil and lead us to good.

In Your name we pray,

Amen
