Nahum 1:7, “The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.”

God is good.  God is there for us on our good days and our bad days.  God is there to watch over us and protect us.  God is not a distant being that sits on a mountain and leaves us to be by ourselves.  He is with us always.

God is good.  Not just people good.  He is perfect good.  God cannot sin.  He has never made a mistake ever.  God will never make a mistake either.  That is something that can be counted on.  God has a plan and can see the big picture.  God has our best interests in heart whether we realize it now or not.  In the end, it is for the best.

God is a stronghold.  He is there in times of trouble.  If we get scared, we can run to God.  If we are attacked, we can run to God.  We can and should hide in Him.  He will fight our battles for us.  If we align with God, our enemies are God’s enemies.  God deals harshly with His enemies and will protect us from them.  We have nothing to fear because God is there.

God also knows who is for Him and who is against Him.  He knows who to trust because He knows the hearts and minds of everyone.  God knows who has their faith in Him and who will never come to Him.  This is because God knows all and is over all.

God is not caught by surprise.  God is not out of the loop.  God knows what will happen before it happens.  Trust is earned and can be lost in people easily.  Once earning God’s trust, it is hard to lose it.  God knows whether a person will come back to Him and be forgiven.  Trust in God.  It is not Him that is untrustworthy.  It is us that need God, not the other way around.

Heavenly Father,

Help us to trust in You more.  There are times when we do not feel You near and we need to trust that You are.  You never leave us.  You are always with us in the times that are good and in the times that are bad.  We have no reason to doubt You.  You are there for us.  I pray that all of us come to know You more and let You in more.  You are not like other people, Lord.  You have never broken a promise.  You are the same yesterday, today, and forever.

In Your name we pray,

Amen
