Hebrews 11:11-12, “By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude—innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore.”
Sarah. Wife of Abram (turned Abraham) and mother of Isaac. Sarah was a woman of God and had faith that He would do what He said that He would do. She made her share of mistakes but in the end, she followed God’s plan.
Sarah was an old woman when she gave birth to Isaac. She was 90 years old when she was pregnant with him. This was not her 5th, 15th, or even 25th child. This was her first child. To think that Sarah was supposed to make Abraham a “father of many”, she was not holding up her end of the deal. She had brought him no children prior to 90 years of her life.
Sarah was so concerned about God’s plan not working that she had her husband sleep with her maid in order to have a baby. This is the opposite of acting in faith. Now Abraham was almost 100 years old having his first son and his second son. This is how the lineage of Jesus was started, Through Abraham to Jesus.
Abraham and Sarah would go on to have many people in their family tree. Abraham was a descendent of Shem, who was the son of Noah. The repopulation of the world is large in part to Abraham and Sarah, the father and mother of the nations.
The world population is over 7 billion. To think that all of these people came from Abraham. God truly made him the father of many nations. God blessed Abraham and Sarah, despite all the wrong that they did. Despite the lack of faith at times, they are still both mentioned in the faith chapter of Hebrews. This is to show that even if we mess up, we can still be near to God and He will forgive. God always forgives a repentant heart.
We must learn to trust God’s plan, no matter how ridiculous it sounds to us. God is bigger than us and knows what He is doing, after all. He did create everything and He is in control. Nothing is outside of God’s range and scope. Faith in God alone. Faith to Him we must hold.
Thank you for the lesson on Sarah and Abraham. These 2 people needed to have so much faith to live the lives that they had. This serves as a great lesson to us, Lord. We must have faith in You in all that You do. Faith is required and faith is tough. You know this already, God. All You ask is for us to follow and trust You. Please help us to believe in You fully and always. We love You and need You very much.
In Your great and faithful name we pray,
