Have the Doctrine of Christ

2 John 9-11, “Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.  If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.”

Doctrine.  Doctrine is defined as a belief or set of beliefs held and taught.  The beliefs that are taught come from God and can be found in the Bible.  In church, these beliefs include the Ten Commandments, the words of Jesus, prophets and apostles and many more.  The fact is that the Bible is the basis of doctrine for all Christians.

If we don’t live in the doctrine of Christ, we do not have God.  We must follow the beliefs of God in order to follow God.  Anything less than perfection is contrary to God.  This, of course, is an impossible ask.  God knows this and sent His Son to die and take our punishment.  Jesus fulfills all that God requires of us to follow Him.  We can try to follow all that God requires but we will fall short.  Jesus carries us the rest of the way that we can’t accomplish.

If we live in the doctrine of Christ, we have God.  Not only do we have God the Father but also the Son of God.  In order to fully follow God, we must have Jesus.  In order to follow all of God’s law, we need the One that came before us, lived on this Earth, and was perfect.  The perfect sacrifice for us.  Jesus is the key that unlocks the door to God.  Without Jesus, we do not have access to live with God in Heaven.

There are people who preach Christ.  There are people who teach from the Bible and do not try to add anything to or take anything out.  These people are preachers of Word of God.  There are also preachers who do not preach the truth from the pulpit.  They are false teachers.  They live to spread the ministry of the devil.  The Bible tells us in this passage not to invite them into our homes or even greet them.  We are not to give them the time of day.  What they have to say is not worth the time.  In fact, listening to them makes us guilty of evil and sin.

Stay with God.  Avoid preachers who preach contrary to the Bible.  Read the Bible to know what is and is not true.  This is the best defense against evil.  No matter what happens, God is there for us.  He cares about us.  Live for God, not against Him.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the Bible.  This is Your Word.  This is the truth.  We long to know the truth and it is right in front of us.  We need You, Lord.  We need Your Son as well.  Without Your Son, we cannot have a relationship with You.  Help us to know the difference between good ministers and bad ministers.  Good words and bad words.  We know that You are truth.  I pray that we all chase after this truth and do not stray from it.

In Your name we pray,

Would Jesus and the apostles be allowed to preach in your denomination or your church congregation?

If Jesus said, those who believe and are baptized will be saved, would He be allowed to preach at your denomination’s convention? ( Ref:Mark 16:16 NIV 1973)

If Jesus said, that if you do not believe in Me you will die in your sins, would He be rebuked by your church leaders? (Ref: John 8:24 NIV 1973)

If the apostle Paul said, Jesus made the church holy and blameless by cleansing her by the washing of water through the word, would Paul ever be permitted to preach again? (Ref: Ephesians 5: 25-27 NIV)

If the apostle Peter said, that salvation only comes through Jesus Christ, would he be authorized to teach and preach at your church? (Ref: Acts 4:10-12 NIV 1973)

If the apostle Peter said, do not revere the Virgin Mary or other dead saints by praying to them, would Peter be allowed to preach at your church? (Ref: Acts 10:25-26 As Peter entered the house, Cornelius met him and fell at his feet in reverence. 26 But Peter made him get up . “Stand up,” he said, “I am only a man myself.” (NIV 1973)

If the apostle Paul, said salvation is available to all men, and not just a selected few, would Paul be permitted to preach at your church? (Ref: Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. (NIV 1973)

Would the apostle John be reprimanded at your church if he said, men cannot inherit sin, because sin is committed and not inherited from Adam? (Ref: 1 John 3:4 Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. NIV 1973) NOTE: INFANTS DO BREAK THE LAW.

There are few churches who would allow Jesus and the apostles to preach. They would be admonished, reprimanded, prohibited, rebuked fired on the spot.
