Luke 15:8-10, “Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!’ Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
Have you ever lost something? What did you do to find it? Tore the house apart to find it? Looked in all the places you could in your vehicle? That is what you do to find what is lost. That is what God does to get back what is lost.
In this parable, it is likely that this woman was poor. These ten coins may have been the only coins that she had. Losing one would mean that she could not afford to get food to feed herself. It may mean that she could not pay her taxes. The point is, all her coins are important. We are the coins in this parable. God is the woman in parable. God looks all over to find His people and get them to come back to Him. He does not want to lose any of His precious coins.
God is happy each and every time that someone leaves their sin and comes to Him. God and the angels rejoice at the conversion of each soul. This is because God cares for His creation. He cares very much.
Will you just wait for God to find you or will you try harder to be found by God? God knows where you are but you have to come to God. The gift that God offers is available to all that choose to receive it. It is freely given. The gift of salvation from sin and death is real. The gift that came from the death and resurrection of Jesus is real. Accept the real. Accept Jesus today.
Thank You for caring enough to look for us. We need You so much. We are all lost until You looked for us and saved us. We are all lost until You sent Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. We don’t deserve all that You do for us every day; all we can be is grateful for You. We are lost coins to You. I pray that all the lost coins of the world will come to know You as their Lord and personal Savior.
In Your name we pray,
