2 Timothy 3:1-5, “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!”
In a world full of fun, frivolity, and fancy things, there is only one important priority: God. The world will have you believe that there are far more important things to enjoy, but you need to make the decision. Choose the world or choose God.
The list above is just some of the worst that people have to offer. This is the list of how people are. At one point, everyone has been one or more of these. There is hope, though. With God, no matter how much bad you have done, you can become good. Not just good, but perfect. Perfect as God is perfect. Not because of any that we have done. It is all because of God.
When I try to do anything for God (work on my blog, read my Bible, pray, talk to others about God), events happen that try to interrupt. The door bell will ring, the phone will go off, the children will come in and need something, I will get tired. The list could go on and on. The point is that I get distracted. These distractions take away from what I need to do. These distraction come from pure evil: Satan and his demons. They like to pick and pick away at the life of a Christian to get them to change their priority.
My advice: stay strong. You must do everything in your power to follow God. This will not be enough, though. You will need the power of God. That is how I get done what I need to. That is how I conduct daily devotions, daily Bible readings with my family, my blog, my own personal Bible reading, and prayer. First is first. I pray a short prayer for the power to eliminate the noise. Eliminate the chatter. God’s power conquers all.
I am not perfect. You are not perfect. But with God, we don’t have to be. God is all we need. Make God first in your life. God deserves our first attention, not our last.
Let us put You first. Let us realign our priorities to You. You deserve our full attention. You sacrificed Your only Son to save us. We need to love You to show You how much we appreciate all that You have done. We can never repay what You have done. Instead, our focus needs to be on serving You and You alone. You only are worthy of our worship and You alone are worthy of our life. Thank You for all that You are.
In Your name we pray,
