1 Corinthians 12:1-11, “Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led.  Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.  There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.  There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord.  And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all.  But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.  But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.”

Tongue Interpretation.  The second part to he tongues discussion.  For the person with the gift of tongues, this gift goes with it hand in hand.  Without interpretation, the gift of tongues is invalid.

When the Holy Spirit comes into the person with the gift of tongues, a message is given and uttered.  The Holy Spirit also gives an interpretation of what said by the person with the gift of tongues.  There should always be a message and an interpretation.  The interpretation may be audible or may come to the hearers in a voice from God in a tongue that is understood for all.  In any case, for the hearers to benefit, the gift must be in a language that can be understood by all.

All of the spiritual gifts have a purpose and everyone has one or more spiritual gifts.  Whatever the gift, they are to be used to the honor and glory of God.  God is the giver of gifts and through prayer, can reveal how to use the gifts given.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for each of the 9 spiritual gifts that we have seen in this passage.  We know that each has a purpose.  We know that You give us these gifts to further Your kingdom.  I pray that Your creation will use their gift or gifts to benefit others and lead more souls to You.  You are the keeper of all languages, spoken and what cannot be spoken.  You provide the words that we need to speak at the time we need to speak them.  Guide our thoughts and words to Your honor, Your glory, and Your kingdom, forever and ever.

In Your awesome name we love and pray,

Amen
