1 Corinthians 12:1-11, “Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led. Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.”
Miracles. When people think of miracles, many think of the miracle of Jesus turning water into wine at the wedding in Cana. Miracles, though not common, occuring mainly during the time of Jesus and his apostles. Many miracles were performed. Today, there are still miracles that occur.
One miracle is the miracle of life. There are several of accounts of people who live well past the time that doctors say they should live, babies who show that they have ailments and then do not have anything wrong, and people who die and then suddenly come back to life. These are and should be considered miracles. Miracles happen because God shows the world that He is still present. Ever present in a time when the world needs a Savior to remove the darkness.
Miracles in the Bible varied from the removal of demons, removal of illnesses/ailments, and even raising from the dead. Miracles happen because of Jesus, not because of any one person. The gift of miracles was given by Jesus to his disciples and apostles but apart from Christ, the miracles would not work. I will say it again that miracles cannot happen apart from Christ.
Miracles today happen if you are paying attention. You have to drown out the noise of the world and see what Jesus wants you to see. Even having the breath to breathe is a miracle. The birth of a baby is a miracle. There are miracles everywhere. People with the gift of miracles are simply a vessel being used by God to pray for or be there for a person or people. Miracles performed by people, at their root, are of Jesus. Miracles require power. not our power, but the Power that God possesses.
Look for miracles. There are there if you look. Take note of what is happening around you. You will be surprised to see how much God does in this world.
Thank You for miracles. Your special displays of power to show us that You are with us. We need You. We cannot live without You. You are our life-giver. You make it possible for us to exist. This world can be a dark place but You are the Light. Let us stand in that Light. In this Light, there is power shown. I pray over the souls of those who are in darkness. Those who refuse to see Your power. I pray that You soften their hearts and that they draw closer to You. You are the creator of the world. We are Your creation. Let us bow down and worship You. We give You all the honor and all the glory and all the praise.
In Your name we pray,
