1 Corinthians 12:1-11, “Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led. Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.”
Knowledge. Yesterday was the gift of wisdom. Given by God to help with decisions and furthering God’s kingdom. Today is the gift of knowledge.
Definition of Knowledge based on Merriam Webster – facts, information, and skills acquired by a person through experience or education; the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject.
Definition of Wisdom based on Merriam Webster – the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise.
Knowledge is different than wisdom. Knowledge is a learned behavior. It is a knowing of facts, figures, and other data. Knowledge is given through the word of God so that someone with this gift may pass along this to others. Wisdom cannot be passed on from person to person.
God gives us knowledge to know what is right and what is wrong. God also gives wisdom to know the same. To those that are not given wisdom, knowledge is given to know what to say and how to act. When going through college or university, it is possible to attain a very high level of knowledge. This amount of knowledge will never replace wisdom. No gift is better or worse than the other. The fact is that all of God’s gifts work together to His glory and His honor. The gifts are to be used by His people existing as one body to bring people to Christ.
Gain knowledge through the Bible. Gain knowledge through literature. In the end, learn all that you can about God. This information could save the souls of countless people. Be a warrior for Christ. Get knowledge.
Thank You for knowledge. You gave us the best resource in the Bible. The Bible contains all the facts that we need to learn how to act and how to be. It is Your words and it is You. You are the Word and the Word is You. You are truly our Father and best friend. You have our needs at heart and inform us as we need to be. Thank You for all that You do and have done.
In Your all-knowing name we pray,
