Philippians 3:20-21, “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.”
For most people, citizenship is something that is taken for granted. I know that there are times that I take living in the United States for granted. I have so many rights that are given to me. Other people are not as fortunate to have as many rights as a citizen as I may have. Countries’ rights vary from each other. There is a citizenship, though, that gives the same rights to all people. That citizenship is in Heaven.
In order to become a citizen of Heaven, you must be transformed. Transformed from a body that will fail to a body that is perfect. Transformed from a mind that wants to serve itself to a mind that wants to serve others. A soul that is changed from the things of this world to a soul that is focused on God. Jesus’ life, death and resurrection paid the price to enter into the citizenship of Heaven. All we have to do is believe and ask God into our hearts.
Jesus took sin and death and defeated them. With their removal, the path to citizenship was made. God and man can be together in perfect righteousness
All things are God’s. God can create and destroy what He chooses. At the end of life, all of God’s creation will be held accountable to the life that they lived. God will judge the sins of the world. Jesus will defend the people who accepted Him as their Lord and Savior. They will hear “well done, good and faithful servant”(Matthew 25:21) and not “depart from me, you who practice lawlessness” (Matthew 7:23).
A choice must be made. The choice to become a citizen of Heaven or a citizen of the world. The world will pass away but Heaven is forever. God is forever. Timeless. No beginning or end. Always present.
Where do you want to be a citizen? The invitation is open to be a citizen of Heaven with God the Father. All you have to do is ask and you will receive. Jesus will come in and save you from the world. That is what God wants and that is what we should want to. Citizenship awaits….Go get it!
Thank You for all that You do for us. Thank You for sending Your son to die on the cross to save us from our sins. Thank You for our citizenship in Heaven. We know that we cannot earn this, we don’t deserve it and we can’t pay for it. Only through the shed blood of Jesus do we gain access to Heaven. Thank You for that blood that was spilt for many. You truly are an awesome God. We praise Your name forever.
In Your righteous name we pray,
