Ephesians 6:10-18, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
The helmet of salvation. The salvation that comes from Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. Salvation that covers the gap that sin put between man and God.
The helmet is a piece of armor that protects the head and also the brain. The helmet used by soldiers would have been made custom for each individual’s head that went into battle. Not everyone’s head is the same size, unlike the plan of salvation The important part is the head is protected and kept from harm.
The head, as I said before, is one of the most important parts of the body. It is where the brain, eyes, nose and mouth are located. Four out of the five senses originate from the head area. Even the sense of touch is controlled by the brain. This is no coincidence. God knows the importance of the head. The brain is the control center of the body. God is the head of the world. Man is the head of the family. Man answers to God.
Salvation is equally important. Without salvation, the whole body, mind and spirit are affected. Without the helmet, the head is exposed, which leaves the whole body exposed. The helmet of salvation is just one part of the full armor. All the parts work together.
Thank You for the helmet of salvation. Thank You that Jesus came to this Earth to live and to die and to take away the sins of the world. You are a most wonderful and gracious God. You give us all the tools we need to defend against the devil. Thank you for not leaving us to fight on our own. You are our power forever and ever.
