Fruit of the Spirit (Part 5)

Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”

Strong’s Concordance – chrestotes khray-stot’-ace; usefulness, i.e. morally, excellence (in character or demeanor):–gentleness, good(-ness), kindness

Kindness.  The fifth part of the Fruit of the Spirit.  But what is kindness?  Kindness is love.  Kindness is gentle.  Kindness is, for lack of a better word, kind.

Jesus showed the ultimate example of kindness.  Kindness is like the definition above states: gentle, good, and excellent in character.  Jesus was all of this and more.  Kindness is essential to the repertoire of the Christian.  Kindness shines through in the life of people who are truly connected to Christ.

The world could use more kindness, more excellence in character.  With all the corruption, lying, and faking, kindness is what is needed.  Kindness is what the world needs.  A kind word goes a long way.  A kind action goes even further.  Kindness in conjunction with all eight other parts of the Spirit makes a total package Christian.  Kindness comes in many forms: a word that is said at the right time, an action to show you care, or words and action.

Most think that kindness is opening the door for someone or saying thank you.  Christian kindness goes far beyond this.  Christian kindness is opening your heart to someone about God, Jesus, and the gift of salvation.  Not holding that gift inside, but letting it be told.  That is kindness.  Jesus showed kindness in His life, His teachings, and even His death on the cross.

Do you want kindness?  Do you want to know the joy that I know?  It is given by God through His son, Jesus.  I would love to tak to anyone that wants to know how to feel the kindness and love of Jesus.  He is waiting on you.  He is waiting to be invited in.  Let Him today!

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for kindness.  The kindness of our Savior.  He gave us the greatest gift of all.  Salvation from our sins.  That kindness gives us life after this life.  Eternal life with God.  You are so wonderful to your creation.  We need you very much.

In your kind name we pray,

Amen
