John 14:1-6, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.  In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.  And where I go you know, and the way you know.”  Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”  Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

How awesome of a God do we serve?   He does not leave us to wonder how to go where we want to go.  Jesus tells us exactly how to get to Heaven.  Even the doubting disciple, Thomas, was left with no more doubts about how to follow Jesus.  Jesus is the way to Heaven.  The only way.

Jesus is in Heaven, preparing a place for each person who comes to know Him as their Lord and Savior.  This home will be nicer than any other home we have lived in.  In a world where this is pain, suffering, homelessness, and especially people searching for answers to the afterlife, it is nice to know that Jesus has made the way to get to Heaven.  No shortcuts.  No workarounds.  No additional paths.  Jesus is THE PATH.

Jesus has never lied, so if He says something, it is truth.  That can help us rest assured that by following God’s Word, we will be with God for all eternity.  Jesus’ death on the cross equals life for us.  Not a longer life on Earth, but a life that is in Heaven.  Jesus is able to say He is the Way, Truth, and Life because He died to create a way from man to come to God.  That is Truth.  God’s Truth.

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your Son, Jesus, who died and prepared a place in Heaven for us.  Thank you for the Way that leads to you.  We were blind, stumbling in the darkness, and you are the Light that shines on the path that leads to you.  We can try several ways to get to you but ultimately, there is only one way that leads to you.  That way is Jesus.  Help us to trust in You and your plan for us.  You only are worthy of our praise and honor.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.

In your way-making, truth-saying, and life-giving name we pray,

Amen.
